5 Great Music Videos for Your Spanish Class

Have you ever listened to a song you used to love and find yourself impressed with the fact that you can remember all the words? Studies have shown that music enhances memory and learning, and as a language teacher, you can use that to your advantage. Bringing music into the classroom makes the class more entertaining AND improves the memory of your language students. What’s not to love? Make it interactive and hand out the lyrics for the class to sing along!

1. Los Pollitos Dicen Pio Pio Pio

This traditional children’s song is great for beginners who are still learning basic verbs and conjugations. It may be simple, but such catchy and familiar tune will make it easier to understand the meaning of the song in no time.

2. Vivir Mi Vida—Marc Antony

This song is helpful for practicing Voy a + infinitives. There are enough infinitives used in the song that students will grasp the concept quickly. Plus, a Marc Antony song is always fun to sing along to!

3. Paraíso—Dvicio

This song about a forbidden love may be silly, but it’s a great introduction to family members and the home. The acting will help students understand the storyline, and it introduces many types of family members. It could even start a conversation about different cultural expectations in different Spanish speaking countries!

4. Te Mando Flores Letra—Fonseca

This love song is useful for introducing object pronouns, and a few new verbs such as abrazar and besos. You could incorporate this into a lesson about verbs related to family and love.

5. La Gozadera—Gente de Zona ft. Marc Antony

Here’s another song that can introduce a lesson about different Spanish Speaking countries and their cultures. It also includes a lot of preterite endings which could be incorporated into an intermediate or advanced class.
